This place is amazing. From atmosphere to service to food. I was choosing a place to go for my anniversary and just randomly picked one out of the Taste of Yaletown restaurants and very glad I picked Hamilton Street Grill.
The place is nice, clean and welcoming. Very warm atmosphere with mid-noise level so it wasn't dead silence but it wasn't blasting with TV or music sound.
The service was excellent. It was all about the timing. Ensuring I was there before bringing my drinks or my food, frequently checking up on everything without being in your face and ensuring your mouth wasn't stuffed with food when approaching with questions. This was a key thing as the waitress paid attention to what was happening and playing off of that.
The food was definitely one of the best. The initial bread they gave came with some deliciously addictive chipotle butter which first melts on to the bread then melts into your mouth. Creamy, buttery and a hint of spiciness. For those who don't know, Taste of Yaletown allow you to choose from the restaurant's fixed three course meal at a set price of 25 or 35 or both if the restaurant has it. I ordered the 35 dollar menu with I chose a mussel steamed on a broth which was made with the same chipotle butter. As I've already described, the taste was amazing so the mussels were definitely very tasty. For the entree I ordered a mixed meat plate type of work. This included a single piece of lamb chop, beef flanks and sausage. The taste of each piece was delicious especially the sausage which tasted super fresh. I ended the night with their delicious chocolate and vanilla swirl cheesecake which was not too sweet (how I like it) and extra cheesy/creamy.
I've enjoyed restaurant so much. I didn't get to look at their regular price menu so I don't know if I'll be returning out of Taste of Yaletown times.

Was flipping through a magazine and noticed Shu Raku being advertised... decided to check it out in person after an eventful day in Downtown.
If you're going here on a weekend, a reservation would help. I only came here with a party of two so it wasn't so bad, but still made a reservation JUST IN CASE! I have to say, its a great place for a party!
Food wise - fresh food, especially the sashimi ($20+). The other tapas were rather interesting - not the typical small plates from Guu. Shu Raku offers decent sized plates, but with a twist. By that I mean, the decor on the plates are NOT just decor. They could be a little basket thing with a lid, and it could be where the special spice or sauce is presented to their customers - neat eh? So, do play around with their dishes and you may find a surprise!
Would come back again, as there are sooooo many various dishes to try and also they have daily specials too.

Came here today to pick up the tire I ordered and was totally satisfied with the service I got. My tire got punctured on the shoulder so it wasn't repairable and had to be replaced. Yokohama tires apparently are one of a kind out there and difficult to find. So had to call around a bit and was able to locate Circuit Tires, who carried them! Although they close at 5pm and given that I was stuck in traffic and was definitely late for my 4:30pm appointment, they were nice enough to stay behind! They told me over the phone that they'll help me take care of my car and will wait until I arrive. 5 stars for them and will definitely consider them when purchasing my winter tires this October!

This place is really funky I'm talking about the decoration and the music (awesome house and funk). Other than that its pretty much downhill. Oh and the fact they allow reservations which is a good thing.
The service was super slow. I mean the time from sit down to ordering my drinks was like 15 mins. Then from that order to actually bringing the drink was another 10. Then we ordered the food and the food took another 20 - 30 min I lost count. In fact one of our dishes never came but luckily they still made it for us and excluded it in our bill.
Ok maybe it was a Saturday night and they were understaffed. The most unsatisfying part of the experience was that the food was at a C grade. Nothing special, nothing good. Tasted like a homemade meal, from somebody who doesn't cook regularly.
